for as long as i remember i have always sniffed for VM macs with a config file.
now as the years go by this amount has got less and less.
also i get macs (from shops, bank machines and other cable users) in the 86.1.**.** gateway
nut the macs i use only seem to be from 10.139.**.**

so whats the crack with different gateway ip's ??
and why are these 'config file' macs getting less and less..

also one more.
i did a sniff last week and found around 15 macs with config files (non worked)
then one night i got 90...yes 90 macs, all with configs and most consecutive, so what was all this about ??
i tried a few and they came on (VM screen) then the config changed to unregandlongernow.cm so are VM sending out batches of fake macs ???

anyway, sorry for going on Smile
simply it's because they are removing all the old exploitable hardware, it's time to open your mind
ok so can you enlighten me ??

i've just watched my modem re-boot as it does and come back on,
i regularly see the config file get changed, but yet it still works..

so whats the options now days ??
how do you get get round all these changes ??
Why does it change? New security, that's why!
ok so now people are waking up and i'm getting replies..

right so what way is there to get round it ??
do i stop sniffing macs, do i only use certain macs,
do i need to change settings in my modems (the whole reason i joined this site)

i understand the old cmreg files from years ago and the way config files changed and tftp sever stuff you needed and now don't,
and i understand my old 4100 may be docsis 1.0 and i need a newer docsis (which i hope this 5100 and 5101 has)
so i am now trying to progress with what ever VM are throwing down,
i don't want 50meg i'm happy at 20meg i just want a modem on..
