My friend recently bought a modem and wants to test and check it out I recently heard from a family member that people around here are selling clones so i would like to know how to tell if it's a clone

There is no such thing as free internet...
The term "Clone" in this hobby does not refer to a product copied illegally with no compensation to the patent or trademark holder, it means the modem's "credentials" are copied from a legitimate subscriber's modem and programmed into yours.
Didn't work looked at it saw it didn't have any non-vols to download so they used one they already had and it worked if that means anything
