Does anyone have a working bin? I have got 2x ambit 256's and it's really driving me crazy.

Any help is appreciateSmile
There is no nonvol, this is completely blank

Did you make backups of your original flash before you did anything?

If you PM the originals to me I can update them with Diag and resend them back to you

PM'ed!!!
After spending two days I managed to put Hax into my A256(MX) with the help of one of the member(ricktendo). Telnet is accessible but GUI is not, the modem is in frequency scan loop so sending stop command is not possible.

Connecting cable feed didn't help either, it just doesn't lock on downstream frequency.

Modem restarts during telnet when Hax page is accessed.

What to do ????
Solved:

Got a working dump of SB5101U/n and it worked. Both the modems have same architecture and both of them use the same Flash type. It took me so many days to figure out that the bootloader of ambit 256 doesn't go along well with modded firmware.

Just dump the flash in your MX chip and reboot. It works right away, no need to change tuner and stuff. Took me there days and I figured it out on my own.

These are the signs of a true tester, congrats!

Next mission is to upgrage RAMBig Grin
Thats what I am going to do as well, just waiting for ram chips to arrive (already have tools)

I also plan on updating SB5101 Send/Rec LED's from green to blue and the Standby LED to red

You can get the RAM chips from the old Pc/laptop RAM modules, upgrage can really boost up the performance. Ambit 256 badly needs a RAM upgrade because it has a SPI cheap and it has some serious memory leak issues.

I'm gonna get some old RAMS from the market and will check the compatibility. Though there is no advantage of going above 16MB but still I will try to get the highest capacity.

Modding the lights wont be hard, you just have to put new SMD type LED's, which are quite common and easily available. Blue LED's operates at higher voltages and takes higher current, so make sure your power circuit of the modem does not come under stress. You can sort that out by playing with different values of resistors.

Best of luck and do post some pics when you do the modSmile
These are the 16MB & 32MB ram I purchased (bot 16bit & compatible)

These are the blue LED's I got

To do this I bought a cheap hot air workstation, some solder paste and a usb 800x microscope. Will practice first on a couple old routers I have before I attempt to upgrade both my SB5101's (will definitely post pictures if successful)
