More use than you think for logging and seeing what happen's..

you can get older cmts's for next to nothing, buy one for testing and setup a cisco lab, maybe you'll make a career out of it and find it interesting. learn to run linux and code in c/c++ and compile for arm so you can turn your modem into a washing machine if you want to do so.
