BACK UP and running woott wooott one more question if anyone care to answer please I thought there is only one file i need to upload to the modem but apparently my friend uploaded 2 files a Autoserve Config File and a NonVol file, everything work after he uploaded, after he left I downloaded the file and clone it to another modem when I load both into a fresh modem it work, but once i reset everything and load only the nonvol it go online but gave me a private address so does this mean I need the config file as well to make it work?

I imagine this modem "guy" has been selling modems for a while and can't obtain the faster speed mac/certs as easily anymore, so he enables the config autoserve option instead to compensate for the slower macs. This method will not last long and may run into connection issues, since TWC's configs are dynamic.

theft of service is illegal I don't mean to break this threat but yeah I agree with mordeth
people selling these modems make it harder for us to test as
the ISP cracks down on are the cable modem community Sad

simply put it tricks the ctms into allowing your modem network access
it takes 1 simple command on the ctms to block it

last year when all this shit hit my isp, the first way around it was by using configs from old ambit 120's this lasted a month or 2 while they went round swapping all the ambits out then it was blocked

so it mean this is only a temp fix so how come the nonvol is useless?

RE: Looking for answer regarding Certs - drewmerc - 16-11-2011

i'm just saying how things went down for me when the security hit i dont know if it's the same
simplest way of working out what is going on is look at the telnet log while the modem is booting using the same nonvol boot once with the config and once without and compare the 2 in a program like beyond compare
