Still worth it
#1
Hi I am new here but have been reading on and off for a couple years about testing, just really never had the time to get started. I'm currently with Charter, and running on Docsis 2.0. My questions are...

Is it still worth getting into this hobbie considering all the security that has been set on us?

Is there an advantage to me having Docsis 2.0 as to 3.0?

If so, what would they be?

Last question, what model of the SB series would you most recommend for me?

Well, if you are reasonably skilled and you get the chance to travel it is still fun to test new isp's. I had a blast testing on Metrocast awhile back. If you have a troubleshooter's mindset and you really enjoy a challenge and you don't mind endless hours of reading then give it a shot. If you are the instant gratification type then you shouldn't even waste your time. This hobby is a tremendous pita now in most US ISP's. That being said, it's still 100% possible to take a modem out of the box and get it to do what you want...
