can someone tell me what is the difference between a premodded modem and a regular modem

pre-modded modem has shell firmware riding over the top of the stock firmware

premod modems are cool regular modems are not

Premod means you paid someone else to flash it for you. The money spent on a premod can get you a stock cm AND a programmer(which you MUST have!)
