Yes, after many frustrating hours of checking and re-checking all of my connections I found that the only way I could get the sb6121 to flash was by removing the chip from the board to flash it, then soldering it back onto the board.

I did not try SB6121 but you can try like sb6120 in this thead: http://haxorware.com/forums/thread-2305.html. Only one thing that I remember somebody said sb6121 does not have ISP pin and you need to use 3.3v.
