(at this point if your modems online you get a cm> prompt if not enter the following command)
cd \cm_hal
scan_stop
cd \
(scanning should now stop)

look still scanning

Attempting Downstream FEC lock @ freq= 147000000 Hz, QAM256
Attempting Downstream FEC lock @ freq= 141000000 Hz, QAM256
Attempting Downstream FEC lock @ freq= 135000000 Hz, QAM256

y u no do what i say
but for the record just because a modem is doing that proves nothing as that's the default action on all cable modems
only way to know if it works or not is to flash it with a known working firmware
