Cloning a legit sb5100 to a sb5100 or 5101n
#1
Question
have a legit cable subscription with an activated, working SB5100 modem
--------------------------------------------------------------------
also have a spare SB5101 and thinking of getting a SB5101N too

would like to copy my own working settings from my old SB5100 to make the SB5101 work , (so I can use it as a spare one at my own location, if needed when one day the old SB5100 dies)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
--can this be done by using Blackcat+jtag+SigmaX2+Fercsa+SB5100Mod ??
--is it enough to make it a same HFC-MAC and SerialNumber ?
--or there is more to it ?

Thanks!

Why not backup ur 5100 to another 5100 seem like that would be easier

I totally agree with you.....I could just do a full flash dump and then reflash
But I do not have an Sb5100 Sad

The SB5101 came from a friend, his new CC forced him to buy a new Thompson DCM475 modem, not allowing to BYO.

I am wondering, what to do after :
1)flash noisy bootloader thru paralel jtag
2)install haxorware thru serial
3) ?????

Don't waste your time cloning a CC modem unless you are extremely talented with telnet and you know EXACTLY what info the CMTS is going to poll for...You will end up killing not only the clone but quite possibly the subbed cm. Kind of a hard conversation to explain to the CC CSR...

My very best advice to you is to leave your sub alone and only play with public whored out images until you are EXTREMELY comfortable with this hobby!
