Surfing with a SB5102
#1
Hey everyone,
I just found my old Motorola SurfBoard modem SB5102, got it from shaw cable like 7 years ago now.
A move to quebec later and the internet sucks and so does the tv.
My cable line is conected to dery telecom and they send internet,
I pluged my surfboard in tonight and it does try to conect to central so thats good news, it still works,

Anyway In the morning I plan to figure out how to make the jtag for it. ...I guess i need to buy one of them special USB JTAG NT parts.....

I'm hopeing I might be able to get a little bit of internet,

I'm not sure where to start on this adventure,

Yeah sorry my english is not that great.... My french is even worse, haha

yes purchase a usbjtagnt it will be a good investment.

you do not need to solder, you can hold the pins from the jtag in while programming it.

you don't even need to solder an sb6120 with an soic clip addon.

soldering is pointless, I wouldn't attempt doing so as you can damage the device, so make sure your amazing at it. otherwise you're just going to hurt the value of the unit.

and if I install this frimware,I can get online though the patched modem? like i said the modem gets all the way to the on-line blinking so there's service being given and this device can pick it up,

Also, what's stoping me from buying a 4 way spliter and buying 3 more modems like this I guess frequency dedgration eh?

Sorry, I'm a bit in the clouds with marry jane,
But would this chip work? I could just take the plastic plug mold off

I can't break the bank over a chip...well not right now...
