General question about modems
#1
Hi, my cable network use Docsis 3.0 and Docsis 2.0 modems. Seems no Docsis 1.0 boxes anymore at all.
Config file on ISPs TFTP server is secured, it's not possible to get it without CM, and possibly other network security methods also enabled, BPI+
I can get many MAC addresses /device info of cable modems via snmp scan.
Will modified Motorola SB modems work in my network or there is no chances?

all depends on if they let 2 modems with same mac on different nodes (99% do)
tho i think you'll need certs to go with the macs

so MAC need be from a different node than my modem? The possible method is to find mac which have better speed plan and use it? How to use certs and how to get it?

easyest way to get certs is dump them from a subbed modem (one with a faster config)
you can try getting them via snmp but this is isp dependant

how to check that SNMP is enabled/disabled in my network? Also, how to check whether or not BPI+ auth is enforced on my system? After scanning nodes with netscan I can access cable modems web-interfaces with some helpful info.
The web menu on connectivity status of the modem show:
EAE status: Disable
BPI status: AUTHConfusedtart, TEKConfusedtart

The other models on cable modem status page show info:
Cable Modem Certificate: Installed

i had to install .net1.1 (so toms jtag would work) on a 64mb 200mhz crappy old laptop so i understand (but hell it worked.......... slowly)

honestly i have no idea better to ask on sbhacker as on my isp, snmp is disabled so only way for me to get them is dump them from a subbed modem
