Parallel JTAG Schematics
Here's a pic that explains both layouts (Motorola and Webstar)

RESISTORS ARE OPTIONAL BUT PREFERRED

RE: Parallel JTAG Schematics
just a couple of quick notes that may be important on the WebSTAR
but it's been reported that both GND's need to be connected on webstar jtag for best results
how true this is i dont know, cos i connect both when ive done them
maybe somone can confirm if this is correct
also this connector numbering is back to front compared to other diagrams
going around

RE: Parallel JTAG Schematics
numbering doesnt really matter...you can always turn the IDC around Big Grin
the thing about the webstar layout is that its even LESS resistant to noise, as there isnt a 1:1 correlation of data vs ground pins anymore (like you have on the 80pin IDE cables) so the cable has to be EVEN SHORTER

Yes the grounds do need to be connected and the numbering isnt back to front if you look at the webstar board jtag points youll see that pin1 is represented with a square or ┘which is the same place as pin1 in diag Smile

RE: Parallel JTAG Schematics
Rajko, im a bit concerned some people might follow your webstar layout on post 1 which is incorrect on the numbering
so ive modded it to the correct numbering, this should stop a lot of people moaning thier blackcat cant connect

Unbuffered Jtag Schematics for Surfboards and WebSTARs
[Image: sb5100webstarblackcatou7.png]
note : pins 2 and 7 both need to be connected to GND
pin 8 is not used, and resistors are optional

Pins 2 & 7 may need connecting to Gnd for best results, pin 8 is not used.

RE: Parallel JTAG Schematics
uhh, if it doesnt detect, just rotate it ?
all you changed was the numbers and the square, also why did you mess up the 2nd ground, it doesnt look as nice anymore Big Grin

RE: Parallel JTAG Schematics
some people might not think of rotating the block cos they would think its wired correctly
also it wasnt your diagram i modded, it was from one that bad_ad posted somwhere which dident have the second gnd
